India fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has been officially warned and handed one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the first ODI against England at Edgbaston.

Brar's Dangerous Throw Violates Article 2.9

The incident unfolded in the eighth over of England’s innings. Brar, while fielding, picked up the ball and threw it toward the batter in a manner deemed inappropriate and dangerous by the ICC. This action fell under Article 2.9 of the Code of Conduct, which explicitly prohibits such conduct in international matches.

Umpires and Match Referee Take Action

On-field umpires Kumar Dharmasena and Mike Burns, along with third umpire Sam Nogajski and fourth official Russell Warren, formally charged Brar. The young pacer admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

No further penalties were imposed, but the demerit point remains on Brar’s record.
