The National Conference (NC) will proceed with its planned protest in Delhi on July 20 despite not yet receiving police approval for a rally at Jantar Mantar, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Tuesday.
Delhi Police permission still pending
Abdullah confirmed the party has not received clearance from Delhi Police for the demonstration. "We haven't got the permission from the Delhi Police yet. We have been kept on waiting," he stated.
Alternative plans in place
Regardless of the approval status, the NC delegation will travel to the national capital on July 19. Abdullah noted the party has prepared contingency measures if the Jantar Mantar protest is denied. "We have an alternate plan ready. Even if we are not given permission for the Jantar Mantar protest, we will still meet and discuss the issue in Delhi," he said.
The chief minister also confirmed the protest will proceed as scheduled despite the recent passing of his uncle. "We are going ahead with our July 20 protest despite my uncle's passing away," Abdullah added.
