A record 8,815 pilgrims, including 31 foreign nationals, left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for the Amarnath shrine on Tuesday, pushing the total number of devotees who have visited the cave shrine to over 93,000 in the first four days of the annual yatra.

Unprecedented Turnout for Amarnath Yatra

The Amarnath Yatra, which began on July 2 and will conclude on August 28, has witnessed an overwhelming response this year, with officials expecting the total number of pilgrims to surpass the one-lakh mark soon.

The latest batch of pilgrims comprised 5,831 men, 2,193 women, 31 children, 598 sadhus, 131 sadhvis, and 31 foreign nationals, who traveled in 363 vehicles via the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.

Pilgrimage Details and Security Arrangements

Of the 8,815 pilgrims, 3,989 traveled to the Baltal base camp in Ganderbal district, while 4,826 proceeded via the traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district, under multi-layered security arrangements.
