A fire in a multi-storey building in Noida’s Mamura village killed two people and led to the evacuation of around 50 residents on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, police said.
The blaze, which broke out in a ground-plus-four structure in Sector 66, was later controlled by seven fire tenders and a hydraulic platform. Two residents—a man and a woman—were rushed to a hospital but declared dead after inhaling smoke, officials confirmed.
Cause and response to the Noida building fire
Joint Commissioner of Police Rajiv Mishra stated the fire likely started from an electric two-wheeler being charged inside the building. It then spread to nearby petrol-powered two-wheelers parked on the premises.
Most tenants were safely evacuated, though two individuals with pre-existing health conditions fell ill due to smoke inhalation and were taken to the district hospital by ambulance, Mr. Mishra added.
Legal action and next steps
An FIR has been registered at Phase-3 police station against the building owner under relevant legal provisions. The landlord has been arrested in connection with the incident.
